Sources of error:
Thermometric graph 1. contamination
2. heat lost to surroundings
pH Graph 1. Indicators do not change colour sharply at a particular pH. Instead, they may change over a narrow range of pH. Hence, the pH value may be lower or higher than the exact pH
2. Too much indicator solution is added. This may affect the concentration of the titrant. Acid-base indicators are weakly acidic or basic substances
Physics SPA: Light
Sources of error:
1.Pinholes are too big. Thus, angles may vary as many lines can be used
2.Outline of the glass block may not be accurate
3.There would be a range where our eyes would see all the pins being aligned. Thus, it won’t be accurate.
4.There is a range of where ‘u’ or ‘v’ such that the image seems to be clear(lens)
Precautions:
1.Silver surface of mirror should be placed on the line, instead of the glass
2.Fit the glass block into the outline drawn
3.Make sure that the centre of the lens is aligned to the light source(lens)
Things to take note:
1.Pins must be more than 5cm apart
2.At least 6 sets of readings
3.Range > 40 °
Special case:
1.‘sini’ and ‘sinr’ can be left in 3 significant figures, don’t need to follow the rules
